Open Question: what are the 8 sugars in glyconutrients that we need to keep us healthy?

Saturday, August 9th, 2008
Although I keep reading about glyconutrients all over the web, if it works, why have i not seen one time the actual name of these sugars, or what they are. Does anyone know where you can purchase a good glyconutrient locally or retail instead of having to order it?

The word glyconutrient derives from the Greek word glukus, which means sweet. So, if you take a glyconutrient dietary supplement that means it is made up mostly of sugar. Specifically, it refers to the particular blend of polysaccharides (complex carbohydrates) and simple sugars or starches that mix with proteins and fats and forms a bridge for the cells to communicate. These eight sugars, or saccharides, are fucose, galactose, glucose, mannose, N-acetylgalacetosamine, N-acetylglucosamine, N-acetylneuraminic acid, and xylose. If a supplement has all eight sugars, it is a complete formula. For proper inter-cellular communication and cell functionality, all eight sugars must be present on the surface of the cell. These eight sugars are just as important to the body as the eight essential amino acids. The eight sugars have also been called the eight essential eight sugars. These acids and sugars are called essential because they are necessary for our body's health. It's not simply suggested our bodies should take them in; it's mandatory.

Open Question: How many medical doctors have had CME’s in nutrition and glyconutrient technology?

Can any of you tell me how, in this day and age where America ranks 37th in the world for health care, 42 for longevity, 72 for overall health, how we are deficient in all the drugs you prescribe? I just read a response from a GP to a question about the need for vitamin supplementation and can't believe the response! I suggest you take the time to research the ample amounts of scientific literature regarding modern farming practices, the lack of nutrients in our food, the preservatives and additives found in our food supply, and do your patients the service you took an oath to uphold. FIRST DO NO HARM. Have any of you read Ch. 56 from Harper's Biochemistry 26th edition or Ch.46 27th edition? How can we be missing the required glycoforms if our diet was able to meet the cells need for proper structure? Certainly you don't think we were born with deficiencies in all the scripts you write? If you lost your prescription pad how could you treat your patient?
