The word glyconutrient derives from the Greek word glukus, which means sweet. So, if you take a glyconutrient dietary supplement that means it is made up mostly of sugar. Specifically, it refers to the particular blend of polysaccharides (complex carbohydrates) and simple sugars or starches that mix with proteins and fats and forms a bridge for the cells to communicate.

These eight sugars, or saccharides, are fucose, galactose, glucose, mannose, N-acetylgalacetosamine, N-acetylglucosamine, N-acetylneuraminic acid, and xylose. If a supplement has all eight sugars, it is a complete formula. For proper inter-cellular communication and cell functionality, all eight sugars must be present on the surface of the cell.

These eight sugars are just as important to the body as the eight essential amino acids. The eight sugars have also been called the eight essential eight sugars. These acids and sugars are called essential because they are necessary for our body's health. It's not simply suggested our bodies should take them in; it's mandatory.

Can any of you tell me how, in this day and age where America ranks 37th in the world for health care, 42 for longevity, 72 for overall health, how we are deficient in all the drugs you prescribe?
I just read a response from a GP to a question about the need for vitamin supplementation and can't believe the response!

I suggest you take the time to research the ample amounts of scientific literature regarding modern farming practices, the lack of nutrients in our food, the preservatives and additives found in our food supply, and do your patients the service you took an oath to uphold. FIRST DO NO HARM.

Have any of you read Ch. 56 from Harper's Biochemistry 26th edition or Ch.46 27th edition? How can we be missing the required glycoforms if our diet was able to meet the cells need for proper structure?

Certainly you don't think we were born with deficiencies in all the scripts you write?

If you lost your prescription pad how could you treat your patient?

Glyconutrients, also called glyconutritionals, are nutritional
supplements that have been reported to boost the immune system
and reduce the effects of many medical conditions. These
conditions include diabetes, high cholesterol, psoriasis, and
multiple sclerosis. While manufacturers continue to market
Glyconutrient products for their health benefits, the medical
communities have been hesitant to embrace glyconutrients, even
in the face of what appears to be undeniable evidence.

The effects of Glyconutrients can be confusing for most of us.
We all associate Glyco with sugar, and we have been taught that
sugar is the enemy. However, research has identified that the
body should have these eight different sugars in it. Most people
have a diet that only has two of those eight sugars in it.

Many people ask if glyconutritionals have been approved by the
FDA - the answer is no, nutritional supplements are not approved
by the FDA. Only drugs need FDA approval before they are
marketed.

Independent tests that have been conducted show that
Glyconutrients may increase lean muscle mass, reduce the amount
of body fat, speed up the healing process, reduce allergy
symptoms, and reduce the likeliness of reoccurring bacterial
infections. Preliminary tests show some nearly unbelievable
health results from glyconutrient supplementation.

Thousands of users of Glyconutrients believe in the power of
these nutrients. They have chosen to take it daily because it
makes them feel better. This type of alternate medicine has
become very popular- you just do what works, whether your doctor
says it should help or not.

Most medical professionals will not promote glyconutrient
products, because they are not educated in nutrition, and
nutrition is not what they are experts at. Glyconutrients are
not known to cause any negative side effects in the human body.

Remember, glyconutrient products do not cure any disease - avoid
anyone who claims that they will.

Have you heard? Scientists have recently discovered that our
contemporary diet is missing some key nutrients, and
surprisingly, these missing nutrients are sugars. After years of
research, author like Rita Elkins concluded that the lack of
these priceless sugars in our diet is a major reason for most of
today’s diseases; even cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune
disorders like fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic
fatigue syndrome.

The miracle of Glyconutrition provides immune balance, strength
and high endurance. Glyconutritionals are very special because
they are system modulators, they target the operating system of
the human body. In other words, an appropriate glyconutrient
supplementation can help to correct auto-immune diseases, boost
a healthy immune system and keep your body in excellent shape
for disease prevention.

8 Essential Sugars that Promote Optimal Health:

GLUCOSE > Potent fast-energy source > Enhances memory >
Stimulates calcium absorption > Too much or too little can be
problematic > Elderly Alzheimer’s patients register much lower
levels of this saccharide than those with organic brain disease
from stroke or other vascular diseases > Glucose metabolism
disturbed in depression, manic-depression, anorexia and bulimia

MANNOSE > Prevents bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal
infections > Eases inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis > Lupus
patients are deficient in this saccharide > Lowers blood sugar
and triglyceride levels in diabetic patients

FUCOSE > Influences brain development > Improves brain’s ability
to create long- term memories > Inhibits tumor growth >
Metabolism of this saccharide is abnorma l in cystic fibrosis,
diabetes, and cancer and during episodes of shingles, which is
caused by the herpes virus > Active against other herpes
viruses, including herpes I and cytomegalovirus > Guards against
respiratory infections > Inhibits allergic reactions

GALACTOSE > Enhances wound healing > Increases calcium
absorption > Triggers long-term memory formation

N-ACETYLGALACTOSAMINE > Heart disease patients have lower-than-
normal levels of this saccharide > Inhibits spread of tumor

N-ACETYLGLUCOSAMINE > Immune modulator with antitumor properties
and activity against HIV > Vital to learning > Glucosamine, a
metabolic product of this saccharide > Helps repair cartilage >
Decreases pain and inflammation > Increases range of motion >
May also help repair mucosal-lining defensive barrier implicated
in Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and interstitial cystitis

N-ACETYLNEUROMINIC ACID > Important for brain development and
learning > Abundant in breast milk > Repels bacteria, virus and
other pathogens

XYLOSE > Antibacterial and antifungal > May help prevent cancer
of the digestive tract

What Do Glyconutrients, Polysaccharides and Cell Communicators
Have in Common?

Answer: they are one and the same! A rose by a different
name…! All this mumbo-jumbo about Latin and Greek therapeutic
terminologies had been going way over my head for a while. But,
suddenly the light lit!

Since trying a wonderful product that took away all my chronic
fatigue and back pain, and noticing other remarkable results in
many people, I went and did some studying. This nutrition was
renowned for its high concentration of these cell communicators,
including four that are not even known to be in any other food
on earth. All I knew was that it produced wonderful results, but
what did these “talkative” cells have to do with it, and what
did it all mean anyway?

By doing a bit of research I found out that in 1999 a certain
Dr. Blobel received the Nobel Prize for Medicine for his
discoveries in the science of Glycobiology. In fact, a total of
four Nobel Prizes were awarded in the field of glyconutrition. I
really sat up when I noticed that these prizes were awarded in
the field of Medicine! Wasn’t the medical profession dead-set
against nutritional supplements and the like?

Well, what apparently happened was this forerunner doctor got
the ball rolling and others got on the bandwagon. They
discovered that of the many types of sugars, only eight of these
specific complex natural sugars, apparently lacking especially
in the North American diet, are essential for the smooth running
of our immune system. These complex glyco-nutrients (glyco is
Greek for sugar) are like the glue that connects the cells of
the different systems in the body. They tell the body to rev up
the auto-immune system to fight off any kind of disease that may
be present.

Now the medical profession had to sit up and take notice. We
still are not hearing our own G.P.’s boasting about the new
healthy alternatives on the market to counteract the liver
damaging and kidney blocking pharmaceuticals that have been
their mainstay. On the whole they’re still trying hard to defend
their old-school teachings and habits. However, with so many
breakthrough miracles now happening all over the place coupled
with the scientific knowledge they now have I know that the
world is on the brink of a healing epidemic!

Bye bye bird flue and pandemics. We’re on the verge of healing
our present ailments, eradicating diseases, and not only
retaining our youthfulness but actually turning back the clock!
Many combinations of drinks and products have glutted the market
in an effort to take a portion of the polysaccharide pie. I know
I am sticking with unique product - the one that has 12 cell
communicators - the other four are over and above what is barely
essential, and those 4 have not yet been discovered anywhere. It
is not a combination of juices or ingredients - which could
counterbalance absorption, digestion, etc. I am ecstatic at what
it has done in my body, how it miraculously removed all the
homocysteine that clogged my husband’s arteries, as well as
brought down and maintained his high blood pressure!

Glyconutrients are having a significant impact in human cell
research as scientists begin to uncover the wealth of functions
that is affected by sugar. However, as with all good news there
is a catch, the sugars that scientists are hailing as a medical
breakthrough are not the variety that most of us are used to, in
fact glyconutrients are not even sweet to taste.

At first, the word glyco meaning sweet and nutrients which we
are all familiar with, look like an unlikely pair and perhaps
even an oxymoron. Years of conditioning from health
professionals have lead people to be weary of sugar in all
forms, but scientific text books are being rewritten to
accommodate this new discovery. More detailed information about
specific diseases and how they react to glyconutrients is
available at http://www.glyconutrientcentre.com.

Basically, scientists have become aware of the vital role that
eight essential sugars known as saccharides play in cell to cell
communication. Due to the fact that glyconutrients are used at
cell level, the potential for healing is enormous. In the
current Western diet, only two of the eight essential
glyconutrients are commonly present. Scientists believe that the
absence of these sugars can have a drastic impact upon the
health of people, and conversely the addition of these sugars is
equally beneficial. In tests conducted in leading institutes
around the world, glyconutrients have been shown to lower
cholesterol, increase lean muscle mass, decrease body fat,
accelerate wound healing, ease allergy symptoms, and allay
autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, psoriasis, and diabetes.
Many scientists and doctors are extremely excited about the
potential for glyconutrients to make a significant contribution
into people’s lives. The full capacity of this new health
resource may be tremendous and doctors are keen to explore the
full potential of glyconutients weather it be on a preventative
level or for treatment purposes. For more information from this
The prefix “glyco” can be placed in front of a fat, protein or
any molecule and suggests that a sugar is attached. Glycobiology
is the study of the sugar portion of these proteins and fats.

Glycoprotein = Sugar attached to a protein. Glycolipid = Sugar
attached to a fat. Glycoform = Any sugar form.

Glyconutrients are not vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats,
herbs, enzymes or homeopathic drugs. They are carbohydrates.
Just as there are essential proteins called amino acids and
essential fats called fatty acids, glyconutrients are the newly
discovered class of necessary carbohydrate nutrients.

The efficacy of glyconutrients has been established by the
world’s leading scientists and researchers as the key to proper
cellular communication and proper cell function. Many medical
professionals and research scientists believe this medical
breakthrough in glycoscience will lead to glyconutrients
becoming a household word within the next three years and
believe Glyconutrients will soon become mandatory for overall
health. With the speculation of becoming a “staple nutritional
supplement” for all 6 billion people on Earth, even business
analysts believe Glyconutrients will become a household staple.

Scientists are networking over the emergence of this new
technology called “glycobiology”- the discovery of cellular
communication! Books and articles are being published on this
life-enhancing technology everyday! It is exciting to see how
nutritional supplementation of glyconutrients can play a role
major in supporting our bodies.

M.D. News, ~ June 2002. M.D. News, a national publication with
regionalized editions in 40 major medical markets in the U.S.
This 3-page article covers the science of sugars and reviews
specific topics such as successes with fibromyalgia, toxic shock
and diabetes.

Featured is Michelle, who in 1998 was a typical 10- year-old
child with Down syndrome, attention deficit, always sick and
hospitalized many times due to severe asthma attacks. Her life
consisted of the nebulizer, antibiotics and steroids. That daily
medical regime is no longer a part of her life since her
parents, Barbara and Jacques, began giving her glyconutrient
products. “Michelle now has the quality of life every parent
wants for his or her child,” says Barbara. “We know she’ll get
sick from time to time, but it won’t be life threatening.
Michelle has always been a beautiful child, but we and others
have noticed that the facial features associated with Down
syndrome have become less pronounced, a side benefit we didn’t
expect.” (excerpt from Las Vegas Magazine, July/August 2001.)

There are stories like this one pouring in day after day about
glyconutrients. Go and learn all you can about this exciting
discovery for health and nutrition.

The word Glyconutrients, is not a Brand, or Company name, but is
the name given to the Essential Sugars needed for Optimal
Health. Glyco is the Greek word for sweet and of course
Nutrients mean, nourishing food or nourishment. Strangely,
Glyconutrients are not usually sweet, sometimes they are bitter
and some are virtually tasteless. There are over 200 of these
sugars which all come from natural sources, research on their
benefits have been conducted continuously since the early
1990’s, to date, eight, of these sugars have been identified as
Essential to the body for Good Health. They are:- Mannose,
Fucose, Galactose, Glucose, N-Acetylgalactosamine,
N-Acetylglucosamine, N-Acetylneurminic Acid and Xylose.
GLYCOMICS, is the total knowledge about sugars and how they
function, GLYCOBIOLOGY is the study of how sugars impact on
living systems, That is how they affect biological structures
and contribute towards Good Health One very important point to
remember is that they are not a drug or synthetic, they are
natural, today more attention is being paid to the study of
Glycomics, which in turn is increasingly raising the awareness
among Health Professionals that Glyconutrients, is real and
beneficial to everyone. Doctors are very reluctant to stray
outside the realm of scientifically tested drugs, but also
remember that the fourth largest killer of people in the Western
world is, Prescription Drugs, The Eight Essential Sugars,
enhance the Immune System and promotes Cellular Communication,
which is how they improve the health of the individual. The
Immune System is the way the body was naturally designed to heal
itself, and all the cells in the body must communicate with each
other for Optimal Health. so Glyconutrients provide the
essential nutrition, that is needed by the Immune System and
cells. Who needs Glyconutrients? well the answer is anyone that
has cells in their body, and of course that means EVERYONE.
Glyconutrients is good for anyone, has no side, or harmful
effects and is all natural. Oxford University in the United
Kingdom, has a Glycobiology Institute, with over 60 researchers
and the Queensland Government and Griffith University in
Australia, recently spent $13 million dollars, for the study of
Glyconutrients by establishing a Center for Biomolecular Science
and Drug Discovery. There are also a number of Universities and
private reseach laboratories in the United States and elsewhere
that are working on similar projects. A “BEST SELLER” book
available through most good book shops is called “Sugars That
Heal” by Doctor Emil Mondoa MD and Mindy Kitei, it is an
excellent source of professional information about
Glyconutrients. If you use any good Search Engine like
EXACTSEEK, and enter any of the following words, you will obtain
unlimited information, in relation to Glyconutrients:-
GLYCOBIOLOGY, GLYCOMICS, GLYCOSCIENCE, GLYCOINFORMATION,
ESSENTIAL SUGARS. Anyone wishing more information is welcome to
